Frances Kelland - Group Exercise Instructor

Qualifications:

Spinning, Stages Power, Indoor Cycling, Exercise To Music, Rave & Ride instructor, Boxercise, Circuit Training.

What classes do you teach?

I have been teaching double spin on a Saturday at Egham Leisure Centre for about 9 years now!

When/how did you become interested in fitness?

I have been teaching group exercise classes for over 20 years. I did my 1st indoor cycling course 20 years ago when it first ever started and pretty much and fell in love with it. I have always had a passion for music and for exercising so this class was perfect for me to teach.

How would you best describe your class experience and coaching style?

Over the years my music tastes have changed and I have obviously become more confident in my teaching style.

I like to think my classes are upbeat and motivational, both through the music I choose and my teaching style. It is always the participants choice – what I say is a guide. It’s more about having fun and setting up your day.

What do you love most about your job?

I love what I do, and I think this shows in my classes. I have completed various other group cycling courses since starting teaching, and have gained more knowledge and ideas from these. I also coach for a team of triathletes.

Do you have any memorable moments you'd like to share?

My proudest moment with regards to group cycling was being asked to be a Rave & Ride instructor in 2016. It was a huge event raising thousands for Motor Neuron Disease. 260 bikes, 8 hours cycling, live Dj’s and we broke 2 Guinness World Records!!

The Rave & Ride team have done 2 successful charity rides at Egham Leisure Centre over the last 2 years, and we hope to continue this annually.

Testimonial:

"I have been a member of Egham gym for years and spinning is one of my main classes. Fran, in my opinion, is amazing! Her classes are just brilliant and her music choice is great every week, it's never the same. It's the one class I would never want to miss."
